Birthday celebrations

I've not written anything in my blog for a long time now. I went out on Friday night because it was the keeper's birthday. The Keeper went out with lots of her friends and some of them had birthday celebrations as well. A birthday is defined in the dictionary as 'A type of suit, most pleasing when worn by hot chicks'. I'm a little confused by this - perhaps its got something to do with London fashion week.

I don't know when my birthday is. This makes me sad.

I have a new friend. I met him tonight. He has a shiny head so the picture did not come out brilliantly but it is very comfortable for sitting on. His name is Len. I think its short for Lennie. Lennie is a character from The Simpsons and thats a cartoon show that doesn't have any Octopii in. Len is from South Africa. Thats a country thats quite far away. I hope he didn't have to walk.

Anyway, I learned about something called Guinness. Aparantly it turns your do-do black. This is not a problem for me. Im an Octopus and know all about black emanations. We specialise in it, you know.

I also learned what happens if you have too much Guinness and it involves walking to a special room where you spend a lot of time looking at your feet.

Anyhoo, I also found out that Im a fantastic kisser. It seems that people couldn't take their lips (or other parts) off me...

Beer and football. All an Octopus needs...

I went to a football match last night. Its the first time I have ever been to a football match and I loved it.

Football is a game where two teams of big people kick a small ball around a big field for an hour and a half. The aim is to kick the ball between two bits of wood at one of the ends and not to let the other team kick it between their bits of wood at the other end. Its quite popular and i should be great at it because I have eight legs.

We started in a pub called the Brittannia and I had my picture taken with a Leyton Orient season ticket. Leyton Orient are a football team that play in London. They aren't very good but they do have a name with an 'O' in it and their nickname is 'The Os'. I like that. My name is Oscar and it starts with an 'O'. Here is a link to the Orient message board: http://leytonorient2.com/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=1

After that, I was put in someones pocket and taken out again to watch the game. There were lots of people there and lots of very bright lights. It was a very big stadium and instead of watching Leyton Orient (who secured a 3-3 draw against Gillingham), I had been taken to watch Arsenal (a very good team) against Porto (a team from Portugal).

It was a good game and Arsenal won 2-0 but the prices at the cafe at half time were very silly. 90p for a Mars bar? £1.50 for a small bottle of water? For that kind of price, I'd expect it to be passed personally by one of the team.

After the game, I went to a pub and got chatting to a group of Swedish people from Sweden. Then I went home and I'm now safely back on the Keeper's desk.

I did learn something new, though. Apparantly, theres this person called a referee and he's a w....

Hello

My Name is Oscar.

I am an Octopus.

An octopus is described as either a bottom-living cephalopod having a soft oval body with eight long tentacles or as a eight-armed cephalopod lacking an internal shell.

I am a travelling octopus and I like to go to new and exciting places. I also love my keeper, Jo.

There is, however, a problem.

Jo is not a great traveller and while I love her, I don't love sitting at her desk in the city of London very much. Its especially boring at the weekends when I have no one to talk to. I am very grateful, therefore, to all of Jo's friends for taking me on their travels and letting me see the sights, sounds and breathing the fresh air in different parts of the world.

I'm setting this blog up to tell everyone about my travels, collect interesting ideas for future travels and perhaps, if you are a lady travelling octopus, you might like to tell me a bit more about yourself.

Anyway, thats enough about me and why Im here. Now its time to start telling you all about the wonderful places Ive been to.

Your friend,

Oscar

My friends took me to the pub

I posted some pictures here for you to look at. My friends Clare, Andrew, Matt and Craig took kme to the pub with them and my keeper, Jo for a drink this lunchtime. I liked it a lot. I think the pub was called the counting house and it was nice to get some fresh air even though I spent most of my time hiding from my keeper in someones pocket.

I hope you like my pictures.

This is me with a pint of beer. The urban dictonary describes a pint of beer as a decent sized amount of magic potion designed to make people of the opposite sex look better.

This is me in the pub. The urban dictionary describes a pub as 'A meeting place where people attempt to obtain advanced states of mental incompetance by the repeated consumption of fermented vegetables.' I think thats about right.

Here are some of my friends. At the back are Craig and Matt and at the front are Clare, Jo (the keeper), and Andrew. Jo (the Keeper) has her eyes shut for some reason. I think it must be some strange human condition. If anyone out there knows why, could you let me know?

My trip to the Catalan coast

I went to the Catalan coast on holiday with my friend Clare, her Friend Max and my friend, Beagle. We had a nice time. Clare even brought my favourite sun-hat with us so I wouldn't get sunburned and she brought a bottle of tanning lotion for Beagle as he was looking a bit pasty.

The keeper said she missed me when I got back but I think she was more miffed that I went without telling her.

It was nice to have Beagle on holiday as sometimes Clare or Max weren't around to talk to and even though he doesn't say much, Beagle is my friend. Here we are with my nice Pirates sunhat. Its my all time favourite hat as well.

Beagle seems to be getting quite close to me in this picture. He was complaining about wanting his tummy scratched but I am starting to have doubts about his heterosexuality.

Here is Beagle and me sunbathing. It was very hot in Spain. I wonder how the Spanish octopii manage it.

I didn't meet any Spanish lady octopii on my holiday this year. That was very sad. I hope I will meet some on my next visit.

Clare and her friend Max said that they went to a restaurant without me and Beagle one night. They had something called Cally Mary.

Thats squid. I don't like squid very much. Trying to muscle in on my multi-legged action. Eating's too good for 'em, I say!
